Swimwear

Swim-specific fabrics are ideal for this pattern. Look out for lycra with a 4-way stretch for the best fit as these patterns were created with a 2” stretch allowance. For the bikini top and bottoms you could also look at using a cotton or jersey for that really authentic 60’s swimsuit vibe, just size up to make sure you allow for the lack of stretch.

beach jacket

This beach jacket pattern is most suited to a woven, non-stretch fabric.  For wearing as a beach cover, go lightweight cottons in cool prints.  To make this jacket something to be worn all year round, make in heavier fabrics such as denim, heavy cottons or wool.

Thinking outside the pattern pack:

Make your 60’s beach jacket a statement winter piece by sourcing a pair of cool vintage curtains to make it in. Want it lined? Just cut out the back, front and sleeves in a lining fabric or lightweight cotton.

The Lucy swimsuit doubles up as a wonderful tummy tucking bodysuit to wear with jeans, skirts and high waisted shorts.
